 GSR News
The GSR, along with other states, have signed on to the attached AMA letter, which calls on Congress to act on the legislation before the April 1 deadline. The ACR will be joining the letter. The ACR is also asking all rheumatologists to contact their lawmakers in support of the bill (see http://www.rheumatology.org/actioncenter/).

As a brief background sent by Adam Cooper: The legislation is a bipartisan, bicameral plan that will permanently repeal the SGR and avert the 24 percent cut coming on April 1, 2014. It will improve the payment system for physicians and preserve access to care for Medicare beneficiaries.

However, the legislation faces significant challenges as offsets for the cost of SGR repeal are not yet identified. The bill also has the support of nearly every other national society and is an urgent priority for the physician community.
