Dr. James Tumlin, Director of Clinical Research at Georgia Nephrology, will present his lecture entitled: "Calcineurin Inhibitor (CNI) Therapy in Lupus Nephritis: Efficacy of Second Generation CNI and the Potential for Podocyte Protection and Reduced Nephrotoxicity."
Dr. Tumlin will review how inhibition of calcineurin can improve podocyte slit pore functions and enhance cell viability.

Learning Objectives:
  1. To review the pharmacobiology of calcineurin inhibitors (CNI) and their modification of T cell immunity and their role in podocyte biology.
  2. Review the differential effects of calcineurin catalytic subunit isoforms and how selective inhibition affect CNI toxicity profiles.
